iPad Game Review: Osmos

Osmos is an entirely addictive game for the iPad published by Hemisphere games. The object if this game is to become the largest sphere in any given round. If you touch a smaller sphere you absorb it and a larger you are absorbed. If you become the largest orb you win- if you are absorbed you lose.

This game has two modes; Odessy and Arcade. Odessy mode takes you through sets of puzzles that increase in difficulty. As you progress you open new types of puzzles. Arcade mode let’s you choose the type of puzzle and difficulty for all the levels that you’ve opened in Odessy mode.

The touch interface of the iPad makes this sort of game possible. I can’t imagine playing this game on a console with a joystick or on a smaller screen. They throw in “repulsers” and “attractors” and a host of other interesting types of orbs to make this game more difficult. This is currently my favorite game on the iPad. I recommend the purchase.
